Cows can swim, apparently

Did you know cows can swim? My friend Treeza sent me these photos from Wisconsin, where she is dealing with a flooded basement and cows swimming the streets of her neighborhood. While the midwest floods, my beloved Big Sur is burning. What's going on? Well, I have some ideas... global warming, for starters. Yikes. We've got to start taking better care of our planet. It's the only one we've got.

  2. Perhaps if this guy actually could spell properly, and didn't say things like "Don't feel so guilty about driving a Hummer, your [sic] helping plant life" or "why the industrial revolution was good for our Environment" I might be able to take some of what he says seriously. The wastefulness of driving a Hummer, seriously, how could that ever be good? Petroleum is not in endless supply. So yeah, let's encourage people to waste more of it by driving Hummers. And, the industrial revolution put tons upon tons of pollutants into our air and water -- even if you don't believe in global warming, how can that possibly be a good thing? However, after two years of environmental studies at UCSC and in the years since then, I know we are definitely doing something wrong. For example:

At any rate, global warming or no, we are surely fucking up our mother in far too many ways and need to stop. If people believe that global warming is real and change their habits because of it, fine with me. Because we can kill ourselves off, but the cockroaches will always be around.
